The virus spreads through contact with infected body fluids, such as:

  • Blood
  • Semen
  • Vaginal fluids

Common ways people get it:

  • Unprotected sex with an infected person
  • Sharing needles or syringes
  • From mother to baby during birth
  • Using unsterilized medical or tattoo equipment
  • Contact with infected blood

⚠️ Symptoms

Some people have no symptoms, especially at first. When symptoms appear, they may include:

  • Fever
  • Tiredness
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Dark urine
  • Yellow skin or eyes (Jaundice)
  • Abdominal pain
